Jackie Bennett OBE has been re-appointed as Chair of the Residential Property Forum (RPF) for a second term. The RPF, convened by the Bank of England, is an industry-led group that monitors the residential property sector in the UK. Bennett's new tenure will extend through April 2028.
Bennett, who recently semi-retired after nearly 25 years in the mortgage sector, spent the last seven years at UK Finance. There, she served as a Senior Advisor in Personal Finance and previously held the role of Director of Mortgages. Her career also includes senior roles with the Council of Mortgage Lenders and various mortgage lending firms. Currently, she holds a non-executive director position at the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) and advises Climate X. Additionally, she is a trustee of FairLife Charity and provides independent advisory services to financial services businesses.
In June 2010, Bennett was awarded an OBE for her services to the financial services industry during the financial crisis. Commenting on her re-appointment, Bennett said: "I'm delighted to have been re-appointed as Chair of the RPF. The forum has an important role in providing a broader understanding of what is happening in the mortgage and housing markets to the Bank."
Peter Pereira-Gray, current vice-chair of the forum since April 2022, has also been re-appointed for another three-year term. Before retiring recently, he was Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of The Wellcome Trust Investment Division and now serves as non-executive chairman at Urban & Civic.
The decision to reappoint Bennett was made by Nathanaël Benjamin, Executive Director for Financial Stability Strategy and Risk, acknowledging her valuable contributions to the Forum. Her new term begins immediately.
The Residential Property Forum was established in 2010 alongside the Commercial Property Forum to support the Financial Policy Committee's work in maintaining financial stability in the UK. The RPF provides insights into housing and mortgage market developments and meets quarterly with no standing membership; attendees vary based on discussion topics.
