The 2025 Law Scholarship Golf Classic, organized by Nusenda Credit Union, took place on June 6 at the UNM Championship Golf Course. The event successfully gathered 36 teams and raised $40,326.08 for scholarships benefiting students of the UNM School of Law through the Alumni Association.
This annual golf classic serves as a platform for alumni, supporters, and community partners to support legal education. The funds collected are directed towards scholarships that help reduce financial burdens for law students in New Mexico.
Rachel Swanteson-Franz, a scholarship recipient, expressed her gratitude: “I was born and raised in Albuquerque and had my sights set on going to the UNM School of Law for years. When I found out I was not only accepted to the school but also awarded this incredible scholarship, I felt so honored and welcomed. I am a first-generation law student who is passionate about public interest law. Knowing that my debts after law school will now be so much smaller, I feel a huge weight off my shoulders. After graduation, I know I will have more freedom to choose a career that will align with my values while still being able to support myself and my family. This is all thanks to the Alumni Association and their incredible generosity. Thank you for making me feel a part of this community.”
In the tournament's results, Cornish Law claimed first place among the competing teams, followed by Armstrong Roth Whitley and Johnstone Family Law in second place, with Peifer Mullins Hanson & Baker, P.A., taking third.
The School of Law expressed appreciation to event sponsors, the School of Law Alumni Board, participants, volunteers, and donors for their contributions which significantly impact students' lives.
