The Taxation and Revenue Department (TRD) has announced an extension for taxpayers affected by the Ruidoso floods in Lincoln County. Individuals and businesses with business tax returns due on July 25 and August 25 can now file by October 27 without incurring penalties for late filing or payment. However, state law does not permit the waiver of interest.
Details about eligibility are available in Bulletin 100.47, which can be found in the publications folder on the Forms & Publications webpage. Affected taxpayers should inform TRD by letter or email, providing supporting documentation to confirm their status. This notification can occur before filing or after receiving a notice for late payment penalties and interest.
Taxpayers may also complete Form RPD-41096, Extension of Time to File. The form and additional information about tax extensions are accessible on the "Extension of Time to File" webpage.
