The New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo has announced the addition of three new staff members: Olga Valanos, Brigette Smith, and Levi Heisinger. Olga Valanos takes on the role of Public Relations and Marketing Director. With over 15 years of experience in marketing and public relations, she previously worked as Communications Lead at a major school district foundation in San Antonio. Olga is eager to return to New Mexico, where she lived for over 12 years and produced the documentary "Generation Red Nation." She commented, "This is a gem of a museum in a building that looks like a gemstone, and I am excited to promote it along with the history of mankind’s mission to space."
Brigette Smith joins as the Front Desk Customer Service representative. Her background includes hotel front desk operations, retail management, and telecom sales. Brigette expressed her enthusiasm for interacting with visitors by saying, "Every day, it’s different." She also has an interest in astronomy and space exploration.
Levi Heisinger returns to the museum as Education Coordinator and Planetarium Projectionist after interning there in 2022 and working full-time from 2023 to 2024. He holds an associate’s degree in arts from NMSUA and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in history while working at the museum. Levi said, "I feel like I am back home with my work family, teaching space science and having fun in the process."
The New Mexico Museum of Space History is part of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. It highlights New Mexico's contributions to the U.S. Space Program.
