The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) is preparing to offer Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) to workers affected by flooding in Ruidoso, pending federal approval. In the interim, individuals can apply for standard Unemployment Insurance benefits as an initial step.

"We are closely monitoring the impact of the recent flooding and are prepared to act quickly to support New Mexicans whose employment has been affected," said NMDWS Secretary Sarita Nair. She added that those who have lost work due to the flood can apply for standard Unemployment Insurance benefits through various channels including the NM Jobs website, local offices, or the UI Operations Center.

If a claim is deemed ineligible, individuals may qualify under DUA once a Federal Disaster Declaration is made. Updates on disaster unemployment assistance and other unemployment insurance information can be found on the NMDWS website.

Applications for Unemployment Insurance benefits are available online at any time via https://www.jobs.state.nm.us, at America's Job Center New Mexico locations, or by calling 1-877-664-6984 during business hours from Monday to Friday.
