Registration is now open for the Tres Ritos Hunter Education Camp, scheduled for July 25-27, 2025. The camp is free and welcomes youth aged 10 to 17, who must be accompanied by a registered adult. Meals will be provided, and participants can tent-camp on the property.

The camp offers instruction in safe firearm handling, ethical hunting practices, conservation, wildlife identification, and basic survival skills. Participants will also learn from department conservation officers about their roles, including wildlife investigations and decoy operations. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to test their marksmanship with bows and arrows. All necessary equipment will be supplied.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. To attend, participants need a Customer Identification Number account with the department and must complete required homework beforehand. Registration can be completed at https://forms.office.com/g/BTvyQH4DgN.

Safari Club International is partnering in this event. For those unable to attend this camp, other classes are available through NMDGF in Roswell on July 12-13 and Virden on July 11-12.
