The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) and the Safety, Training, Tech Assistance and Resource Support (STTARS) recently hosted the 2025 National Tribal Housing Justice Summit. The two-day event focused on ensuring safe housing for future generations, with discussions involving tribal domestic violence advocates, community leaders, and housing experts committed to advancing housing justice for Indigenous communities.
Remarks were delivered by IAD’s Cabinet Secretary Josett Monette alongside other State and Tribal leaders. Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller declared June 26th as Tribal Housing Justice Day. Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn about strengthening access to housing, expanding safe and culturally appropriate options for survivors, and promoting justice through policy and tradition-based approaches.
