The New Horizons Dome Theater at the New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo has introduced a new audio system that enhances the visitor experience. The Trinnov system, recently installed, calibrates to the dome's acoustics, allowing sound waves to converge on listeners. This upgrade means visitors will not only hear but also feel the action during shows.
The theater reopened on July 2, 2025, with regular hours and is offering several shows. These include "Night Sky Star Show," an interactive cosmic journey; "Global Soundscapes: Mission to Record the Earth," which explores extraordinary planetary sounds; and "Astronaut: Ocean to Orbit," a film adventure from ocean depths to space.
Located at 3198 State Route 2001 in Alamogordo, NM, the museum operates under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and is a Smithsonian Affiliate. It highlights New Mexico's role in the U.S. Space Program and features attractions like the International Space Hall of Fame.
