Corey Roybal has been appointed as the new director of Adult Protective Services (APS) in New Mexico. Emily Kaltenbach, ALTSD Cabinet Secretary, expressed confidence in Roybal's abilities, stating, "During his time here at ALTSD, Corey has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable New Mexicans. His deep knowledge of adult protective services, combined with a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach make him the right leader to guide this vital division forward."
Roybal is a lifelong resident of New Mexico and holds a bachelor's degree in criminology from the University of New Mexico. Before joining ALTSD, he worked with the New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission where he played a role in connecting survivors of violent crimes with necessary resources.
Upon his appointment, Roybal remarked, “It is an honor to step into this role and continue to uphold the dignity, safety and wellbeing of adults who may be at risk. APS is a lifeline for many, and I am proud to lead an incredible team that shows up every day committed to ensuring every New Mexican has access to the protection and support they deserve.”
