As part of the ongoing I-25 Improved project in Albuquerque, crews have reached a significant milestone. The reconstruction of the outside lanes of I-25 between Candelaria Road and south of Montgomery Boulevard has been completed. This work includes the reconstruction of the bridge over Comanche Road in those sections.
To maintain progress on the project, a lane shift is scheduled to begin on June 30, 2025. This shift will move drivers onto new pavement on both northbound and southbound I-25 between Candelaria Road and south of Montgomery Boulevard. The shift will allow crews to start work on the median and inside lanes. Nighttime lane and ramp closures will be necessary over the weekend to complete this transition. Drivers are advised to plan for potential delays and exercise caution within the work zone.
The purpose of these changes is to communicate progress from the work zone and inform about the new lane shift designed to facilitate continued improvements aimed at enhancing traffic flow and safety on I-25.
The media event is scheduled for June 23, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., where Kimberly Gallegos, NMDOT District Three Public Information Officer, and Patrick Shaw, AUI, Inc. Project Manager, will be available for interviews at Improve Group-New Mexico in Albuquerque.
