The New Mexico Environment Department's (NMED) Water Protection Division is enhancing resources for rural communities through its Rural Infrastructure Program. This initiative follows the approval of $15 million by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham aimed at improving water systems, wastewater facilities, water pipelines, and solid waste projects in rural areas.
This funding provides an opportunity for municipalities and districts serving populations under 20,000 to upgrade their infrastructure. The NMED aims to improve community health and water standards through these enhancements.
The funding offers loans with terms up to 20 years at a 1% interest rate. More information on opportunities and applications can be found at https://bit.ly/3SjOpKp.
