The Child Support Services Division in New Mexico is celebrating its 50th anniversary, having been established on June 16, 1975. The division currently oversees around 45,000 active cases across the state. Recent outreach events marking the anniversary have led to a significant increase of 230% in newly opened child support cases through May.

Governor Lujan Grisham highlighted the importance of the division, stating, "The New Mexico Child Support Services Division is an untapped resource for many parents who are raising children in separate households and need help navigating an often-complicated court process." She encouraged those in need to reach out to the division's staff dedicated to ensuring children's financial and medical support.

To commemorate the milestone, open houses are being hosted by the Health Care Authority at all 15 Child Support Services Division locations statewide. These events include information booths for parents and guardians to understand how child support services can be integrated into their childcare plans. A school supply drive is also part of these activities to benefit New Mexico's children.

Betina Gonzales McCracken, Child Support Director, expressed enthusiasm about engaging with potential new clients during this anniversary celebration. She stated, "We would love to spend this anniversary day talking with potential new customers who can learn about all of the services we provide."

A public celebration is scheduled for August 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tiguex Park in Albuquerque. This free event will feature music, speakers, food vendors, and distribute school supplies collected at CSSD field offices to attending children.

New Mexico collected $119.2 million last year through its child support program and maintains approximately 45,000 active cases.

For more information or inquiries about existing child support cases, individuals can visit YES.NM.GOV or contact the HCA Consolidated Customer Service Center at 1-800-283-4465.
