The New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (NMDVS) has announced a series of outreach visits across various locations. These visits aim to assist veterans and their eligible dependents in filing for or obtaining information about VA benefits, including disability ratings, medical or mental health care, retiree pensions, military burials, and other services. Additionally, the staff will help with state veterans' benefits such as discounted fishing and hunting licenses, veterans' license plates, property tax exemptions, and state park passes.
Veterans are advised to bring necessary documents like the DD 214 or Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty when filing claims. NMDVS also offers assistance in retrieving lost or misplaced DD 214s.
The outreach schedule includes multiple locations: Albuquerque on June 20 at the NATI Conference; Artesia on June 17 at United Veterans Hall; Carlsbad on June 10 and 24 at VFW Post 8703; Cannon AFB on June 24 at the Military & Family Readiness Center; Capitan on August 6, October 1, and November 5 at Capitan Library; Deming on June 11, July 9, August 13 at Old VFW Building and on June 25, July 23, August 27 at Luna County Senior Center; Española on July 2, August 6, September 3 at Workforce Connection Center; Holloman AFB on June 9, June 23, July 14 at Military Family Readiness Center; Ruidoso on July 9, September 10, November 5 at Ruidoso Community Center; Socorro/Belen every first and third Tuesday at Forget Me Not Veteran Center.
Weekly outreach visits include Santa Fe Vet Center every Monday and Friday and T or C Vet Home every Wednesday.
