Festival Flamenco Alburquerque returns to Albuquerque for its 38th year

Festival Flamenco Alburquerque 38 is set to bring a week of flamenco performances to the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, starting June 20, 2025. This event, organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Flamenco, marks its 38th year and is known as the largest and oldest flamenco festival outside Spain.

The festival begins with Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía's performance of "Pineda" on June 20. This piece explores Federico García Lorca's work from the 1920s. Patricia Guerrero, Artistic Director of Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, leads this rendition rooted in Grenada. On June 21, "Tierra Bendita" will be presented, featuring traditional and modern elements of southern Spanish culture.

On June 22, "Nocturna" offers an exploration from dusk to dawn. The festival resumes on June 26 with David Coria y compañía's "Los Bailes Robados," transforming the stage into a space amplifying marginalized voices.

The grand finale, Fiesta Flamenca, takes place over two days on June 27 and 28. Each night features different performers. Tickets start at $59 for Sunday and Tuesday shows and $69 for Friday and Saturday shows.

All performances are held at the Albuquerque Journal Theatre within the Roy E. Disney Performing Arts Center. For more information about performances across Albuquerque, visit ffabq.org.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center aims to preserve and promote Hispanic culture through various events throughout the year. It operates under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and receives support from the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation.
