Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that wind energy is not viable as a major power source and endorsed natural gas instead. This statement was made in an online documentary.

"Wind simply cannot function as a sole or even a primary power source," said Cortes, Founder of League of American Workers.

Wind energy has become a contentious issue in U.S. energy debates, with critics questioning its economic and environmental value. According to the New York Post, opponents argue that federal subsidies distort markets and fail to deliver proportional benefits. This has prompted Republican lawmakers to support legislation like the "Big, Beautiful Bill," which phases out clean energy tax credits beginning in 2029. Supporters maintain that wind power reduces emissions and creates jobs, highlighting the partisan divide over America’s renewable energy future.

In 2023, wind energy generated 425 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, accounting for 10.2% of total U.S. power production. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, this makes wind the country’s top source of renewable electricity. The data reflects continued growth in wind infrastructure and a strategic shift toward decarbonizing the national energy grid.

Wind power emits approximately 11 grams of CO₂ per kilowatt-hour, while natural gas emits about 465 grams per kilowatt-hour. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, this stark contrast highlights wind’s substantial environmental advantage in reducing greenhouse gases and air pollutants. These emissions data are central to federal and state policies promoting renewable adoption over fossil fuels.

Cortes is a political strategist and media commentator who served as a senior advisor to Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns. According to Key Speakers Bureau, he has appeared on CNN, Fox News, and CNBC, and previously worked in finance as a trader for major hedge funds. He later founded the League of American Workers, a conservative group focused on working-class advocacy and economic nationalism.
