Common Cause New Mexico is strengthening its grassroots presence by appointing Cesar Marquez as the new Senior Organizer. Marquez will focus on organizing efforts to enhance public engagement, promote pro-democracy policies, and improve government transparency and the state's election system.

"Community organizing is about making sure people are heard and empowering them to get involved to shape the future of our state and our communities," Marquez stated. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in politics, especially during times when many feel disconnected from their government.

Marquez has spent five years organizing in Nevada, where he led a statewide initiative for open primaries and ranked-choice voting. His work has concentrated on building diverse coalitions and increasing civic participation among young voters, Latino voters, independent voters, and other underrepresented groups.

Molly Swank, executive director of Common Cause New Mexico, remarked on New Mexico's role in advocating for a fairer democracy: "We are thrilled to have Cesar leading our organizing efforts to ensure that every New Mexican is engaged in our democracy and has an equal say in our collective future."

With a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and eight years of experience in manufacturing operations, Marquez brings expertise in electoral reform and strategic campaigning. He aims to continue his work empowering New Mexicans to participate actively in policy-making processes.
