New Mexico State Bar Foundation hosts free webinar on worker classification

Albuquerque, N.M. — The New Mexico State Bar Foundation's Modest Means Helpline will host a free small business webinar on June 4. This is the third and final installment of the 2025 series aimed at New Mexico small business owners. The session, titled "Independent Contractor or Employee? How to Navigate Legal Classification and Contracts," will run from noon to 1 p.m. (MT).

The webinar will be presented by Margaret Lorenz, a licensed attorney with the Modest Means Helpline, and Taylor Duffney from Briones Business Law Consulting. They will discuss legal distinctions between employees and independent contractors, essential tests for classification, and the role of written agreements in ensuring compliance.
