Nusenda Credit Union has inaugurated its new branch located at 2801 Juan Tabo Blvd NE. The opening ceremony took place on May 10, with Nusenda Credit Union President and CEO Michelle Dearholt addressing attendees during the ribbon-cutting event.
The credit union, which was established in 1936 by a group of eight local educators led by Maurine Grammer, initially operated under the name Albuquerque Public Schools Federal Credit Union. In 1982, it became New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union to better represent its expanding membership base among education-related employees and their families. The organization rebranded again in 2015 as Nusenda Credit Union to reflect broader capabilities.
Currently, Nusenda operates more than 20 branches throughout New Mexico and four in El Paso. Over the years, it has grown from serving educators and their families to supporting hundreds of thousands of members across over 500 businesses, nonprofits, and educational institutions throughout New Mexico.
Officials highlight that Nusenda is now the largest credit union in New Mexico based on both membership numbers and assets. Additionally, it holds membership with the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
