The New Mexico State Bar Foundation's Legal Resources for the Elderly Program (LREP) is organizing a free legal workshop and Power of Attorney Clinic for residents in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The event will take place on May 19 at the Alamo Senior Center, located at 2201 Puerto Rico Ave., Alamogordo, N.M. 88310.

The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time. An LREP attorney will lead the session from 10 to 11:30 a.m., covering topics such as Powers of Attorney, Advance Health Care Directives, probate, estate planning, Transfer on Death Deeds, Medicaid, and Long-Term Care.

Following the workshop, a Power of Attorney Clinic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This clinic requires advance registration and focuses on preparing Powers of Attorney and Advance Health Care Directives. Registered participants aged 55 and older can have their documents prepared and executed by an attorney.

This initiative is produced in collaboration with the New Mexico Aging & Long Term Services Department. It aims to provide an opportunity for individuals to plan for the future and explore care options for themselves and their families.

To register for the clinic, New Mexico residents can call either 1-800-876-6657 or 505-797-6005, providing their name and email address. Those unable to attend can still seek legal advice through the LREP Helpline using the same contact numbers.
