The New Mexico State Bar Foundation’s Legal Resources for the Elderly Program (LREP) is organizing a free legal workshop and Power of Attorney Clinic for residents of New Mexico. The event will take place on June 2 at the Roswell JOY Center, located at 1822 N. Montana Ave., Roswell, NM 88201.

The workshop and clinic are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and conclude by 12:30 p.m. The session will start with a presentation by an LREP attorney from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., covering topics such as Powers of Attorney, Advance Health Care Directives, probate, estate planning, Transfer on Death Deeds, Medicaid, and Long-Term Care.

Following the workshop, there will be a Power of Attorney Clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., focusing on preparing Powers of Attorney and Advance Health Care Directives. This clinic requires advance registration. Once registered, attendees aged 55 and older can have documents prepared and executed by an attorney.

This initiative is produced in collaboration with the New Mexico Aging & Long Term Services Department. It aims to provide participants with an opportunity to plan for their future and understand available options for personal care and family support.

To register for the clinic, residents can call either 1-800-876-6657 or 505-797-6005, providing their name and email address. Those unable to attend can seek assistance through the LREP Helpline using the same contact numbers.
