A couple from Zuni Pueblo was sentenced for an assault committed in 2023. Shannon Concho, 47, and LouAnn Johnson, 29, received sentences for attacking a man in his home and preventing him from seeking help. They extended the assault in the presence of a witness and two minor children.

Court records indicate the incident began on September 3, 2023, as a verbal dispute at the residence of John Doe on the Zuni Pueblo. The situation escalated when Johnson slapped the victim. The couple then seized his phones, preventing a call for help, and attempted to access a bedroom where two children and a witness were present.

Concho escalated the attack by hitting John Doe with a chair, nearly causing unconsciousness. He then instructed Johnson, wearing boots, to kick the victim's head. After complying, Johnson informed Concho that law enforcement had been contacted, prompting their flight. They were later apprehended in Arizona.

Concho received a sentence of 57 months in prison, and Johnson received 24 months. Both will have three years of supervised release after incarceration. U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced the sentences.

The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office conducted the investigation with help from the Zuni Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jesse Pecoraro is prosecuting the case.

There is no parole in the federal system.
