New Mexico is a land of striking beauty — from the red cliffs of Abiquiú to the vibrant cultures of Santa Fe and the sacred stillness of the desert. It’s a place rich in heritage, spirit, and promise.
But behind the sunsets and scenic landscapes, there’s a quiet ache rising across our communities — one that can’t be fixed by politics, programs, or platitudes. What New Mexico needs now more than ever is prayer.
We are a state in crisis. Crime rates in cities like Albuquerque remain among the highest in the nation. Drug addiction continues to tear through families, and fentanyl has become a silent killer in neighborhoods once filled with laughter. Our children face rising rates of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. Poverty still grips entire counties with generational weight. And in the silence of it all, a spiritual drought deepens.
We also cannot ignore the heartbreaking truth: New Mexico has become a destination for abortion on demand. As other states enact life-protecting laws, women from across the country are being drawn here for late-term procedures. Our state permits abortion up to the moment of birth, with little to no restrictions — a reality that grieves the heart of God and demands the response of His people.
Abortion is not just a political issue. It is a moral and spiritual one. It is the shedding of innocent blood — and Scripture tells us that such actions defile the land (Numbers 35:33). If we are to see healing in New Mexico, we must begin by repenting, interceding, and standing up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
This is more than a policy crisis. This is a spiritual crisis. And the answer isn't just in more legislation or louder protests — it's in a collective return to God.
When the land is dry, we pray for rain. And right now, New Mexico is in desperate need of spiritual rain. We need healing. We need unity. We need a move of God that breaks chains, restores families, and revives purpose.
Prayer isn't passive. It's powerful. It is the way heaven invades earth. When God's people pray, mountains move, hearts soften, and what seems impossible becomes possible. Throughout Scripture and history, prayer has been the tipping point of transformation.
This isn’t a call to one denomination or political party — it’s a call to every soul who believes that God still answers prayer and that He has not forgotten New Mexico.
But prayer should also lead to action. That’s why I encourage those feeling the call to get involved with Concerned Women for America (CWA). As the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization grounded in Biblical principles, CWA equips people — especially women — to stand for truth in the public square, to pray strategically for our leaders, and to be a voice for righteousness at the state and national level.
Whether through prayer groups, educational resources, or grassroots advocacy, CWA is helping citizens turn their convictions into influence. If you're wondering how to make a difference beyond your personal prayers, CWA of New Mexico is a great place to start.
It’s time to stand in the gap — not with fingers pointed in blame, but with knees bent in humility.
This land of enchantment needs more than policies. It needs revival.
So, whether you're in a church pew, a kitchen chair, or walking down a dusty road, lift up your voice. Pray for New Mexico. Pray boldly. And then take a step of faith. Our future may depend on it.
