John Block, a state representative for New Mexico House District 51, expressed relief following the arrest of a suspect linked to the arson attack on the New Mexico Republican Party's headquarters. He conveyed his sentiments in a post on X dated April 14.
"Another mentally ill insane Democrat radicalized by Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández who committed act of terror and firebombed the GOP HQ/Tesla dealership," said Block. "Glad they arrested it."
Block's post included a link to an article from the Piñon Post, which announced the arrest of Jamison Wagner, 40, from Albuquerque. Wagner faces two counts of arson related to attacks on both the Republican Party of New Mexico office and a Tesla dealership. The article notes that Wagner is a Democrat and identifies as a queer electrical engineer.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice's criminal complaint, materials marked with handwritten capital letters "I" or "H" were discovered at both arson sites. Surveillance footage featuring a white sedan assisted authorities in identifying potential vehicles involved. Further investigation into homemade incendiary devices led to Wagner being identified as a person of interest. Authorities conducted surveillance on Wagner and confirmed he owned a Hyundai Accent found in his garage. A search warrant was obtained and executed on April 12, resulting in evidence seizure linked to both incidents.
The New Mexico Republican Party detailed the firebombing at their headquarters on March 30, emphasizing it was not an isolated event. "We are deeply relieved that no one was harmed in what could have been a tragic and deadly attack," said Amy Barela, Chairwoman of the Republican Party of New Mexico. She added that those resorting to violence must be held accountable and called for decisive action from state leaders against such attacks.
Block is also known as the founder of Piñon Post, a conservative news outlet. He was re-elected in 2024 to represent House District 51 and advocates for conservative values and free speech, focusing on limited government and individual liberties.
