The arson attack on the Republican Party Headquarters in Albuquerque is a disturbing reminder of the violent inclinations of the progressive leftists controlling the Democrat Party. New Mexico Representatives Stansbury, Leger-Fernandez and Vasquez are part of the radical left wing of their party, which follows a by-any-means-necessary revolutionary philosophy of moral bankruptcy.
To understand how we got here, we need to look back at the history of Barack Obama, who was a protégé of Bill Ayers in Chicago, one of the members of the Weather Underground. The Weather Underground was a revolutionary communist movement in the 60’s who believed that violence was a legitimate way to achieve political goals. Their record of domestic terrorism is well documented.
More recently we had the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020, in which dozens lost their lives. Before they scrubbed their website in the spring of 2020, BLM was proud to proclaim that they were a revolutionary communist organization. That means they advocate for the violent overthrow of the United States Government. The fact that this group was promoted and protected by Kamala Harris and the Democrat Party shows how their beliefs align.
If you view the world through the progressive lens, everybody must be categorized as either an oppressor or as oppressed. Therefore, any action by the self-proclaimed “oppressed” is justified, even killing innocent people, if it advances the cause of “social justice.” The fact that these categories are loose and ever-changing makes the justification of violence extremely dangerous, as anyone can be labeled an “oppressor” and consequently targeted with violence.
The Democrats have cozied up to Islamic terrorists and defended them because they consider them allies in their attack on Western Civilization, which progressives consider racist and oppressive. We can see it in the case of Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University agitator who is being deported for supporting terrorism yet is defended by Democrats as a member of their movement. The Biden administration clearly took the side of the Hamas terrorists against Israel after October 7th, displaying a complete lack of moral clarity. It is not OK to take innocent lives to further a political outcome. Terrorism of all kinds must be condemned.
Unfortunately, we have not seen that from our elected leaders in New Mexico, who are all too happy to jump on the rhetorical bandwagon of disparaging invective against Republicans. This can only lead to violence as we have seen, both here at home and nationwide. Democrats have lost power at the federal level, resulting in ever more unhinged outbursts at their political rivals. It is hard for them to accept the political realignment underway in America in 2025. As they are relegated to the minority, with recent polling in the 20s, their anger and desperation is growing. Here in New Mexico, Democrats hold all the levers of power, but they can see which way the wind is blowing.
The New Mexico Democrats will release a statement against political violence, not because they want to but because they have to. However, the mask of moderation is slipping, and their misguided political philosophy of Marxist extremism leaves them no way out of the ideological box they are in. I pray no innocent lives are lost in this organized wave of domestic terrorism that has now impacted our state. Will New Mexico voters make their voices heard in a clear message repudiating political violence? There will be opportunities to reject the progressive left in upcoming local elections this fall. We shall see.
