State Representative Stefani Lord of New Mexico's House District 22 has called for a public apology from the New Mexico Democratic Party following its response to the firebombing of the state's GOP headquarters. Lord made this demand in a post on social media platform X on April 2.

"Based on their silence, it's clear that NM Dems endorses the hate-filled rhetoric threatening the safety of New Mexicans," said Lord, New Mexico State Representative for 22nd District (R). "Two days ago, I demanded a public apology from NM Dems for the inflammatory and inappropriate email sent out following the firebombing of the GOP headquarters. This disgraceful and defamatory communication sought to incite hate and discontent against not only Rep. Block and myself but against all Republicans. New Mexicans have a right to know where organizations like NM Dems stand on the issue of domestic terrorism."

In her post, Lord accused New Mexico Democrats of sending an inflammatory email intended to incite hate and division. The email allegedly targeted Lord and Representative John Block with libelous accusations, aiming to provoke violence against them. According to Lord, a press release from the Democratic Party of New Mexico accused her, Block, and Senator Nicole Tobiassen of spreading false narratives about the vandalism at the Republican Party office. The release also falsely claimed they were part of a crowd calling for Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's murder.

The GOP headquarters in Albuquerque was reportedly set ablaze early on March 30 in what officials suspect was an arson attack. ABC News reported that the fire began at 5:56 a.m., with firefighters controlling it within five minutes. No injuries were reported, but graffiti reading "ICE = KKK" defaced the building, causing damage to its entryway and smoke damage throughout. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are investigating after recovering incendiary materials from the scene.

On March 30, the Republican Party of New Mexico described the incident as a "direct assault on our values, freedoms, and our right to political expression" in a post on X.

Lord is a Republican politician from Albuquerque and founder of Pro-Gun Women, advocating for Second Amendment rights. She was re-elected in 2024 to represent House District 22 and is known for her advocacy on gun rights and government accountability.
