Senate Republicans have condemned the recent firebombing of their headquarters, calling for accountability and a return to civil discourse. The statement was made in a press release on March 30.

"We condemn all acts of political violence and domestic terrorism," said Republicans, Senators. "Our political and legislative process must be engaged through civil discourse and respectful debate. Actions such as these further divide New Mexicans and seek to completely undermine the very foundations of how we govern ourselves."

According to Reuters, the fire at the Republican Party of New Mexico's headquarters occurred early Sunday morning, March 30, 2025. The incident caused damage to the front entryway and smoke damage throughout the building. The words "ICE=KKK" were spray-painted on the building. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are leading the investigation.

CBS News reports that this incident is part of a disturbing pattern of politically motivated violence in the United States. In December 2024, for example, the headquarters of the Democratic Party in Oregon was vandalized with windows smashed and graffiti sprayed on the building. The Democratic Party of New Mexico also condemned the vandalism at the Republican Party headquarters, stating that such acts have no place in democracy and emphasizing the importance of peaceful discourse and organization in addressing political differences.

According to information from the New Mexico Legislature, Senator David M. Gallegos is a Republican representing District 41 (Eddy & Lea counties). He served as a State Representative from 2013 to 2020 and has been a State Senator since 2021. By occupation, he is a Senior Superintendent.
