The New Mexico Shooting Sports Association (NMSSA) has expressed its disapproval of the recent arson attack on the Republican Party of New Mexico’s headquarters. The incident, which damaged the entrance and included graffiti, was addressed in a press release issued by NMSSA on March 30, 2025.
According to the NMSSA, the organization is urging political leaders to denounce the incident and calling for a thorough investigation by authorities to hold those responsible accountable. The association emphasized its commitment to protecting constitutional rights, including free expression and advocacy, without intimidation or violence.
"Political violence in any form is unacceptable and has no place in New Mexico or anywhere in our country," said Anthony Segura, executive director of NMSSA. Segura said that they stand in solidarity with fellow New Mexicans targeted by this act and called for law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice swiftly.
The Republican Party of New Mexico reported that its Albuquerque headquarters suffered damage from an arson attack on March 30. The entryway was destroyed, and graffiti reading "ICE=KKK" defaced the building. The party described the incident as a deliberate act targeting its political presence and labeled it an attack on free "political expression" and democratic participation. Authorities are currently investigating.
"We are deeply relieved that no one was harmed in what could have been a tragic and deadly attack," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Amy Barela. She emphasized that those resorting to violence must be held accountable and urged state leaders to take decisive action against such attacks.
