The staff at the new arc Thrift Stores celebrated the opening of their first location outside Colorado with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Albuquerque. The event, held on March 13, was hosted by the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
Arc Thrift Stores, which has been based in Colorado since 1968, chose Albuquerque for its first out-of-state expansion. The new store is located at 3301 Coors Blvd. NW and has hired approximately 50 employees. Notably, about 20% of these employees have some form of intellectual or developmental disability. The revenue generated from this thrift store will support the arc organization.
Arc officials noted that part of their decision to expand into New Mexico was influenced by the success of similar competitors such as Savers and Goodwill, as well as the proximity to Colorado.
The new store offers a variety of items and features a drive-thru donation area for those interested in contributing goods. Arc Thrift Stores is also promoting a color tag special where select items are available at a 50% discount.
"We welcome arc Thrift Stores to Albuquerque and as a member of the Chamber!" expressed representatives from the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
