CSVANW has announced the launch of the "Breaking Cycles of Violence Conference," a new initiative aimed at advocacy and support for survivors of violence in Native communities. Tiffany Jiron, Executive Director of CSVANW, emphasized the organization's commitment to safety and justice for Native women. She stated, “The shift to the Breaking Cycles of Violence Conference is more than just a change in name—it’s a reaffirmation of our mission to focus on the voices that have long been silenced and marginalized in policy discussions."
The conference will provide a platform for diverse voices, including survivors, advocates, law enforcement, and governmental representatives. It aims to discuss innovative strategies to address violence with an emphasis on effective laws and policies. Jiron highlighted the importance of collaboration between Tribal, state, and federal governments: “The Breaking Cycles of Violence Conference underscores the critical need for collaboration...to ensure that the voices of those most impacted are not only heard but listened to."
CSVANW continues its work with Tribal leaders and stakeholders across New Mexico and beyond. The conference seeks to advocate for stronger protections and improved resources in addressing systemic issues contributing to violence in Native communities. Jiron added, “We cannot underestimate the power of this shift...We’re not just breaking cycles of violence—we’re creating new cycles of safety, justice, and well-being.”
Event details are as follows: The conference will take place on March 26, 2025, at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM. Registration is open through March 26.
