Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has announced new support measures for federal workers in New Mexico who have recently lost their jobs. The initiative, led by the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions with the State Personnel Office and the Economic Development Department, aims to provide comprehensive assistance to those affected.

The support plan includes a dedicated resource web page, recruitment events, and access to education and training opportunities. "We are committed to ensuring that New Mexicans who have been abruptly dismissed from federal jobs have the resources and support they need to transition smoothly into new career opportunities," stated Gov. Lujan Grisham. She emphasized that state agencies and partners are working together to offer job assistance, education, and training.

The resource page can be accessed on the Department of Workforce Solutions website at WorkForNM.com or www.dws.state.nm.us/FederalWorkerResources. It provides information about unemployment insurance, job search support, and answers to frequently asked questions. This centralized hub is designed to streamline access to necessary resources for affected workers.

Recruitment events will be held at America’s Job Center New Mexico locations on February 28 in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and on March 7 in Carlsbad and Las Cruces. These events will feature employers ready to hire from various sectors including state agencies, private businesses, and local municipalities. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore career options, network with potential employers, and learn about available education programs.

For those interested in state government careers, job openings can be found on the State Personnel website at www.spo.state.nm.us.

Federal workers who have been laid off are encouraged to apply for Unemployment Insurance through several channels: online at www.jobs.state.nm.us, by phone at 1-877-664-6984, or in person at any America’s Job Center New Mexico location. More information is available at www.dws.state.nm.us/UIQuickFacts.
