Zach Fort, New Mexico Shooting Sports Association (NMSSA) treasurer, said crime has increased since Governor Lujan Grisham took office, with crimes rising, and despite calls for action, she has focused on “attacking” gun owners instead of criminals and not addressing the rising crime rate. Fort was a guest on a recent episode of the Tipping Point New Mexico podcast.

"It's [crime] gone up since she first started," said Fort on the Tipping Point New Mexico podcast. “Violent crime has gone up, property crime has gone up, and all of a sudden, now, after years of rising crime, we're supposed to be convinced that she cares about this and wants to push to get things done.”

“When we've been talking about this since she entered office, we said, 'These are the issues we need to focus on, these are the things we need to do,’” said Fort. “But instead, every single opportunity this governor has had when it comes to crime, she’s turned a blind eye to people who commit crimes with impunity and focused her sights on attacking people who just want to own a gun and be left alone.”

This edition of the podcast features guest Zach Fort, who returns to Tipping Point NM. Fort, handling legislative affairs for the NMSSA, discusses threats to gun rights, crime, and the potential for meaningful action against it in the 2025 legislative session. The conversation also covers Governor Lujan Grisham's stance on gun rights.

NMSSA is a non-profit focused on promoting firearm safety, supporting law enforcement and military training, organizing shooting events, and advocating for responsible firearm ownership.

Tipping Point New Mexico is a podcast hosted by Paul Gessing and Wally Drangmeister of the Rio Grande Foundation, focusing on public policy issues in New Mexico. The podcast is a project of the Rio Grande Foundation, a research institute promoting individual freedom, limited government, and economic opportunity.
