Peter Lorenz Chair-Elect Unirac, Inc. | Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce
Monique Fragua has been appointed as the new CEO of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC). She will assume her role on April 1. The announcement was made by the IPCC on January 21, indicating that Fragua will also serve as the president and CEO of Indian Pueblos Marketing Inc.
Fragua is currently the chief operating officer for both IPCC and IPMI. She is a member of the Pueblo of Jemez.
The current CEO, Mike Canfield, will retire on March 31 after serving for 14 years. He joined as president and CEO in 2011. Canfield is a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and serves on the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce Board.
Under Canfield's leadership, he transformed the former Albuquerque Indian School campus into a central hub for business and culture in the region. Reflecting on his tenure, Canfield stated, “It has been my absolute privilege to have been an integral part of these organizations for the past 30 years. I count it my highest honor to have been able to serve our 19 Pueblo communities and contribute to the growth here for as long as I have.” He expressed gratitude towards those who supported him during his service.
Fragua's familiarity with IPCC/IPMI positions her well to balance honoring Pueblo culture while pursuing sustainable growth aligned with their mission set by the 19 Pueblos.
