Las Cruces Border Patrol, Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office find missing person

A missing person was reunited with family members after agents from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Las Cruces Station collaborated with the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office. This information was shared in a December 16 post on X by Anthony Scott Good, El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent.

"Missing Person found! Thank you to our Las Cruces BP Agents for their hard work and dedication in assisting Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office with locating a missing person. The subject was safely reunited with their family," wrote Anthony "Scott" Good in his December 16 post on X.

According to the CBP webpage focused on the Las Cruces Station, it was established in 1924 with two patrol agents. Currently, the station’s agents cover 3,943 square miles, serving New Mexico’s second-largest city.

The U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector is responsible for overseeing approximately 268 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, which spans West Texas and New Mexico. The New Mexico portion includes operations in the Lordsburg, Deming, and Santa Teresa stations. Agents patrol various terrains including urban areas, desert terrain, and mountainous regions to monitor and secure the border. The El Paso Sector in New Mexico is tasked with processing individuals encountered along the border and collaborates with state and local law enforcement for security operations. It conducts surveillance and uses technology to detect unauthorized crossings and other border activities.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security responsible for safeguarding the nation's borders and preventing illegal entry of people and contraband. Established in 1924, it operates in 328 ports of entry and protects 7,000 miles of land borders as well as 95,000 miles of maritime borders.
