Patrick M. Allen, Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Health, is stepping down from his role effective at the end of the day, as announced by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. Allen has been part of the administration for nearly two years.
Governor Lujan Grisham expressed her gratitude for Allen's service, stating, “Pat has been a dedicated public servant, and I’m grateful for his contributions as secretary for the Department of Health. I wish him well in his next endeavor.”
In response to Allen's departure, Gina DeBlassie, currently serving as the governor’s health policy advisor, will assume the position of interim cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Department of Health.
DeBlassie brings extensive experience with over 30 years in healthcare. She has played a significant role in legislation aimed at enhancing healthcare access across New Mexico. Her efforts have been crucial in forming initiatives like the Health Care Authority and the Rural Health Care Delivery Fund.
Before joining Governor Lujan Grisham’s team, DeBlassie was chief operating officer for a national All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly provider program. In that role, she managed operations across multiple states and led expansions to improve senior care services.
DeBlassie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and has served on several non-profit boards.
