Obituary
Melvin Garner, 87, beloved spouse, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, was called to his eternal resting place on December 26, 2022. He entered this world on April 2, 1935, in Memphis, TN, born to Jack Garner and Helen Van Landingham. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Laura Garner; daughter Janice and husband Gabriel Portillo and son Melvin Garner II and wife Catherine Garner; grandchildren Amanda and wife Michele Jones, Ashley and husband Carlos Padilla, Austin Garner and wife Stephanie Vela, Jessica Garner, and wife Christine Beatty; great-grandchildren David, Hector, Bryant, Rey, Leo, Peyton, and Brett. Melvin served in the Air Force from 1954 - 1961. Melvin graduated Eastern New Mexico State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing. Melvin was a proud business owner of MG Marketing specializing in commercial restaurant equipment. Melvin resided in Albuquerque, NM for nearly 40 years and was a proud member of the Shriners organization. Melvin was an active participant in his church community where is served as an usher and was a man of great faith.
A memorial service will be held on January 7th at 10:00am at Hoffmantown Church 8888 Harper Rd. NE, Albuquerque NM.
