Obituary
Arturo "Arthur" Martinez was born on Wednesday, July 5, 1939 in Socorro, New Mexico and passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Arthur leaves behind his four children; son, Clyde Martinez and wife, D-Anna of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Vickie and husband, George Garcia of Grants, NM, Lorie Apodaca-Miller of Amarillo, TX and Christine and husband, Jerry Montano of Albuquerque, NM, his eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Adela and husband, Gene. Arthur was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Arthur met the love of his life Ida, at a young age, and they shared a beautiful marriage of 64 years before she was called to heaven. Arthur loved watching his grandchildren participate in the many sports and activities they were involved in. He enjoyed time visiting with family and friends and, when able, would travel to visit family in the many states they lived in. He was so proud of his family and all they were doing. He also enjoyed working around his home, yard work especially, and his favorite pastime was watching old western movies and wrestling. His smile was amazing and lit up the room.
He was a long-time resident of Grants, New Mexico as a Uranium Mill Worker until he moved his family back to Albuquerque as the mines slowed down. He settled his family in the South Valley and retired from the City of Rio Rancho as part of their water department. He was proud of his work at Anaconda and the City of Rio Rancho.
Arthur is preceded in death by his wife Ida, parents; Jose Martinez and Romelia Peralta Martinez; and siblings, Henry (Suny) Martinez, Joe Martinez, Robert Martinez, Mary Henderson and Betty Martinez.
Services for Arthur will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 and Friday, January 20, 2023, in Albuquerque, NM at French- University. Viewing will be Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 6:00p.m.-8:00 p.m. with Funeral Services on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary.
