Castillo, Stephen Andrew

Age 69, passed away Thursday, December 01, 2022. Stephen was born, and raised, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was an avid Boy Scout. He served in the US Airforce for 20 years; at which time he also completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He was a dedicated golfer, ran running programs in Panama, served as soccer referee and loved all physical & sports activity. He placed 3rd in the 2020 National Senior Olympics Triathlon in his age block.

He had tremendous mental diligence for endurance!

 

Stephen was a devoted father, grandfather, partner and friend to all. He had a very kind hearted and generous soul ... quick to make others feel like a 'close' friend.

 

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jenny Castillo.

He is survived by his significant other, Cynthia Herbst; children, Jesse Castillo and wife Moraima Matta, Angela Valenciana and husband, Fernando; grandchildren, Diego Valenciana, Madison Valenciana, Carlos Garcia-Matta, Edmar Garcia-Matta and Joshua Garcia-Matta; siblings, Nancy Lucero, Kenneth Castillo and Cynthia Garcia.

 

Visitations will be held on Friday, December 09, 2022 from 3:30pm-4:30pm with a funeral service to follow from 4:30pm-5:30pm and a reception to follow at 5:30 pm at Strong Thorne Chapel, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. He will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
