Obituary

Marcellus (Marc) Henry Clarence LaChey passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from Alzheimer's disease, surrounded by his family in his home here in Albuquerque. He was born June 26, 1929, to Catherine and Marcellus (Chick) LaChey in Ft. Loramie, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; parents, Catherine, and Marcellus (Chick) LaChey; sister, Catherine Marie; and brothers, Vern, John, and Alvin LaChey. He is survived by his brothers, Ken, and Ed LaChey; sister, Naomie (LaChey) Richards; son, Marc Douglas (Debbie); and daughter, LeeAnne LaChey-Barbee (Phillip), and three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

As the eldest, Marc became the leader of his younger brothers and their friends, playing baseball or walking down to a quarry to swim during the summers. As the first in his family to go to college, he graduated from the University of Dayton in 1951. Marc also served in the Ohio National Guard, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant.

Marc spent many hours on the road in New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado during his 40-year career with National Cash Register (NCR). After retirement, he kept busy helping establish a neighborhood watch program in the Glenwood Hills community. He taught computer classes at Bear Canyon Senior Center and played soft ball with the senior league. He also chased balloons during many Balloon Fiestas. In the Lions Club he served one term as president.

The family would like to thank Maria and Mila at Presbyterian Hospice for all their help and support.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m., St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 1502 Sara Rd. SE - in Rio Rancho, NM. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE - Albuquerque, NM.
