Robert Bates Lale, II, an unofficial native New Mexican having lived in Albuquerque since 1961 died on Monday, August 29, 2022, due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born December 13, 1939, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Robert Bates Lale and Frances Marie Russell. He married the love of his life, Margaret Elizabeth Maddox, who he loved, laughed with, and enjoyed every day since their marriage on April 21, 1961, in Carbondale, Illinois. They had 61 wonderful years together.
Bob retired from the FAA in 1994 having serve 25 years as an air traffic controller with his friends in East Specialty.
He is survived by so many who loved him dearly and will mourn his passing. His wife, Peggy; his son, Robert Bates Lale III and his wife, Penelope Lale; his daughter, Christine Elizabeth Long and her husband, Daniel Long; four grandchildren, Margaret Lale, Russell Lale, Zeke Long, and Sophie Long; and his great-granddaughter, Milrose Williams. Bob's sisters, Dana Whitaker and Vicki Blair and their husbands and children. He also had a niece and nephews in Illinois whom he loved. Bob leaves a family who are so very grateful to have had him in their lives - he was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather.
Bob will be cremated according to his wishes and a private viewing will be held by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
Bob will be interred at Jones Grove Cemetery, Catlin, Illinois at a later date.
