Mary Jane (Maes) Martinez, Age 90, lifelong resident of Santa Fe, passed away unexpectedly on August
10, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Elias and Antonia Maes; in-laws Alfredo D and Lora
Martinez; grandson Alfredo Martinez. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years Deacon Juan R
Martinez; children Bernadette Gonzales (Ray), Gerald (Cindy), Lawrence (Paul Moorman), Vernon (Kathy
Porter), Stephanie Tammaro (Doug), special nephew Mark Maes (Gina); loving caregiver Silvia Avila;
grandchildren Melissa Cobos, Dominic, Jolene, Jason, Eric Tenorio, Matthew, Arianna Tammaro, Miquela
Tammaro; great-grandchildren Caleb Cobos, Kiersten Cobos, Eithen, Christina, Mila Alonzo, Elijah
Alonzo, Atlas, Noelle Maryjane; brother Leo Maes, sisters Genevieve Maes, and Celestine Chavez
(Seferino). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close family
friends. She was a member of the Saint Francis Altar Society, Treasurers of Wisdom and a very active
member of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. She was a proud member of La Union
Protectiva de Santa Fe. Mary Jane was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister,
madrina and especially a friend. She brought joy to all that were blessed to know her. Her loving and
kind ways were always expressed by her love of God and La Conquistadora, understanding, compassion
and respect for all that she touched. We will miss her beautiful smile and know that we now have our
own angel watching over us. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 5 PM to 7 PM at
Berardinelli Family Funeral Services, 1399 Luisa Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Rosary will take place on
Monday, August 22, 2022, at 10 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, at The Cathedral
Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Interment will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 10 AM at the Santa
Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Mary Jane Martinez to
the Carmelite Monastery of Santa Fe, 49 Mount Carmel Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Pallbearers: Gerald
Martinez, Lawrence Martinez, Vernon Martinez, Ray Gonzales, Doug Tammaro, and Melissa Cobos.
Honorary Pallbearers: Mary Janes’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the
