Obituary

Rosina V. (Rose) Maestas went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Rose was born on July 18, 1923, in Santo Nino, NM to Maclovio and Frances Velarde.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Porfirio (Sparky) Maestas; and second husband, Bennie Maes; daughters, Linda Jaramillo, and Judy McGurn; brother, Leopoldo (Polo) Velarde; and sister, Lucy Luna, and other family members. Rose is survived by her sons, Larry (Bella), Art (Carol); daughter, Elaine (David), and 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, and nieces, and 10 inherited children from her union with 'Papa' Bennie.

Rose was a long-time resident of Los Alamos, NM where she and Sparky enjoyed many years in food service as owners of the Sparky's in the community center, as well as long-time retiree of Albuquerque.

A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE in Albuquerque.

Private interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
