Revi Michael Pexa

December 24, 1942 ~ April 14, 2022 (age 79)

Obituary

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the calling of God's servant Revi Michael Pexa into the gates of Heaven on April 14, 2022, after a valiant nine-month battle against Pancreatic Cancer. He was born December 24, 1942, in Mobridge, South Dakota.

He is survived by his loving wife Dana Kay Pexa, his three sons Revi Don Pexa and partner Robert Tavani, John Thomas Pexa and wife Kirsten, and Van Christopher Pexa, his brothers Joe Pexa and Dennis Pexa, grandchildren Chloe Pexa, Kane Pexa, and Jayden Fox, and many cousins from the Irish Leonard Clan. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Catherine Pexa, his brothers Wade Pexa and Terry Pexa, and sister Mary Hughes.

He grew up in Agar, South Dakota, before transferring to Fort Pierre, South Dakota, his senior year to play basketball for the Fort Pierre High School Buffaloes. While in Fort Pierre he met his wife and dance partner Dana Kay to whom he has been married for 57 years. He then attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. While in college, he ventured into the insurance business which turned into a successful career for over 50 years.

He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1969 where he established Pexa Insurance Agency where he was a steward of providing for his countless clients throughout the entire state of New Mexico. His entire life he unselfishly gave his time volunteering to help others. In doing so he coached Boys Club, YMCA, Del Norte High School soccer, and Special Olympics. He was devoted to his community to include New Mexico Special Olympics, a father to a Special Olympian, and local assembly as a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He worked tirelessly for the basic tenets of human rights and treatment of all individuals, especially those with special needs to ensure they are treated with respect, integrity, and decency. He always put others before himself. He embodied the respect of countless individuals and never met a stranger.

He also enjoyed outdoor activities which included fishing, hunting, and boating with his Lake Powell family and friends. The twinkle in his eyes, his infectious smile, and his never-ending stories will keep his memory in our hearts forever.

A very heartfelt thanks to Dr. Annette Fontaine, MD, and entire staff at New Mexico Cancer Center. Special thanks also to Monsignor Voorhies.

A viewing and rosary will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at FRENCH-Wyoming.
