U.S. Sen. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM) is set to leave the hospital following a stroke, KRQE reported.

“I’m doing well, I’m strong, I’m back on the road to recovery and I’m going to make a full recovery," the senator said in a statement, KRQE reported. "I’m going to walk  out of here, I’m going to beat this and I’m going to be stronger once I come out.”

In early February, Lujan felt dizzy and fatigued and checked himself into a Santa Fe hospital.

The stroke was in the back of his brain, which affected his balance, KRQE reported.

"As part of his treatment plan, he subsequently underwent decompressive surgery to ease swelling," the senator's office said in a news release.

Lujan expects to be back on the Senate floor shortly.

"Through the love and support from my family, medical team, and New Mexicans, I’m getting stronger each day in D.C., where I’m completing my recovery," Lujan tweeted on Feb. 17. "I’m thankful for the well wishes from folks across the country. I’m back at work and will return to the Senate floor soon."
