Obituary

Antonio (Tony) Rey Segura, 87, beloved father, grandfather and husband went home to be with the Lord. He passed away at home surrounded by his family on October 23, 2021.

Antonio was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late Cruz Segura and Grace Santillanes. He is survived by two brothers Cruz Segura and family and Franklin Segura and Family.

Antonio is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosie, son Antonio and wife Jeanette, son Mark, daughter Michelle Garcia and husband Danny. Grandchildren Natasha Rider, Antionette Segura, Ben Segura, Jesse Segura, Deanna Garcia, Denys Garcia, Donna Garcia and Demi Garcia. Great grandchildren Antonio III, Vincent, Rylee, and his dog Tweety.  Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

As our mom tells it, it was love at first site. It may have taken nine years for him to propose but when he called her on the phone and said "Do you want to get married or what?" She said, "I'll call you back." The relationship he had with his wife was like no other. They shared an unbreakable bond. They were inseparable. Through the good times and the bad they lived, laughed and loved.

Antonio was a strong, kind, and loving father and grandfather. He was his family's biggest supporter in any activity that they were involved in. He umpired little league at Central Valley. His philosophy when his sons were up to bat was "I didn't strike you out, you struck yourself out! Swing at it!" He never turned down a good game of poker. He enjoyed going to the casino, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Raiders play and watching his favorite game shows, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.

Antonio was a proud Korean War Veteran with the US Air Force. He received a US Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Korean Service Medal. He served his country with pride. He was a Chapter 3 Commander to the DAV. A DAV State Commander. A member of the American Legion and VFW. He volunteered his time to many veteran causes, his church and community. He especially loved to call BINGO.

Antonio Leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and his occasional, endearing stubbornness. He truly brought the life to the party. We are so grateful for the time we had to spend with him. We will always feel his presence in our hearts till we meet again.
