Lina M. Trujillo, 92, died on October 22, 2021 at the home of her niece and nephew, Jeanette and Matthew Gonzales.  Jeanette and Matthew cared for her during her dementia and cancer journey, with Matthew serving as her full-time caregiver.

Lina was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Benita Trujillo, her brothers Martin Trujillo, Jr., Tony Trujillo and Perfetito Trujillo.  She is survived by her sister, Margaret Chavez and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Lina was born on June 4, 1929 at home in Villa Grove, Colorado.  When she was in elementary school, the family moved to Aztec, New Mexico.  She graduated from Aztec High School in 1948.  She then began her postsecondary work at Mount St. Joseph Junior College in Owensboro, Kentucky. Upon completion of her studies, she entered the convent with the Urusline Sisters.  As an Urusline Sister she taught in Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico and Santiago, Chile.

In the fall of 1973, Lina returned to New Mexico to care for her mother, who had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  Upon the death of her mother, Lina, now living in Albuquerque, cared for her father until his death in1983.  She continued teaching in Catholic and Public Schools until her retirement.

Lina’s Life Celebration will begin with a rosary recited at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.  Mass of Resurrection will follow at 2:15 p.m.  Rosary and Mass can be livestreamed at:  stjudenm.org

Committal will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2021.
