Lois Emily Topping Jones, 86, of Albuquerque, NM, died May 3, 2021, after a 15-year struggle with vascular dementia.
Lois was born December 3, 1934 in Washington, PA, to Lois Dale (Laughlin) and Robert John Topping.
Lois married Raymond Wikle Nethers in 1953. They divorced in 1964. She married Martin Benard Jones in 1967; they remained together until his death in 2006. They were longtime members of Mountainside Church of Christ.
She was mother and grandmother to many: her children Theresa (Terri) Nethers Wallis, Jonathan Nethers, Margaret Rice, and Martha Nethers; step-children Roger Jones and Arlene Stewart. Lois’ grandchildren: Meredith, Olin, Philip, David, Paul, Stephanie, Duncan and Connor. Step-grandchildren: Rhonda, Rachael, Melody, Chelsea and Crystal, plus six great-grandchildren and seven step-greats.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Raymond, son Jon, step-daughter Arlene, grandson Olin, and husband Benard.
Lois loved her career as a nurse. Her nursing took on many aspects: hospital, doctor’s office, nursing home and home health. Lois enjoyed many creative hobbies, including sewing clothing, gardening, growing colorful flowers, watercolor painting, and crocheting. Lois volunteered in many groups, such as Girl Scout Leader, Project Linus, and nursing for the Ponderosa Camp. She shared her love of art, music and reading with all of her friends and family. Lois conquered many crossword puzzles with her knowledge and vocabulary. We are grateful for the way she reached out to share her gifts of crafts and so many cookies!
We have gratitude for Carefree Living and Hospice de la Luz for keeping Lois safe and comfortable.
A family graveside prayer service to place the urn will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Vista Verde Mausoleum, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
