ALBUQUERQUE - The Albuquerque Police Department has provided information regarding an officer-involved shooting that occurred on the West Side. The incident involving suspect Alijah Archuleta unfolded following a series of events that led to a confrontation on March 30, 2024.

According to reports, Archuleta was involved in a domestic dispute on March 29, where he exhibited threatening behavior towards his girlfriend and child. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest the following day, encompassing multiple charges related to the previous incident.

On March 30, officers were alerted of Archuleta's return to the same location. A swift response led to a confrontation, during which Officer Nathien Apodaca and Officer Hernan Conchas discharged their weapons in response to perceived threats posed by Archuleta. Following a pursuit, Archuleta was apprehended, and a search of the vehicle revealed incriminating evidence.

Archuleta's subsequent arrest shed light on his actions during the encounter, including attempts to evade capture and the retrieval of weapons found in the vehicle.
