The Albuquerque Police Department has recently unveiled the 8th episode of the Duke City Case Files, a series aimed at soliciting tips in unresolved homicides. In this latest installment, the focus is on the tragic 2018 murder of Antonio Gomez, 24, who was fatally shot near San Pedro Drive S.E. and Gibson Boulevard S.E. on October 6, 2018.

Antonio's father, Santiago Gomez, reminisced about his son, describing him as a talented individual with a passion for music, sports, and art. Santiago Gomez emphasized the importance of community support in bringing closure to their family, stating, "This is a fix that I as a person can do... give them a little peace. And so, have a little courage just a tiny bit of courage to come forward and give anything that really would help give us relief."

Commander Kyle Hartsock of the Criminal Investigations Division highlighted the need for unity in tackling such crimes, stressing, "Our community breeds creative minds and bright and beautiful minds... they don’t deserve to die like this."

The investigation into Antonio Gomez's homicide suggests a possible connection to drug-related motives, prompting ongoing efforts by detectives to gather more information. Despite active leads and interviews, authorities are urging the public to step forward with any relevant details.

Each month, a new case is profiled in the Duke City Case Files series, accessible on APD's various social media platforms. Individuals can provide tips anonymously to the Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers at (505)-843-STOP or through p3tips.com/531.

The APD's initiative seeks to engage the community in assisting law enforcement in solving cold cases, underscoring the significance of collective action in bringing justice to victims and closure to their families.
